Volunteers have transcribed 6,997 records and returned over 650 cards to families! By 2030, we will transcribe 13,000 more records (including businesses), create an interactive place-based website that tells a full story of Nikkei farming, build a storybank of 200 nouka (farming families), and write a middle-school curriculum so that everyone can be a history detective.
Your
donation will help us digitize and transcribe more records, purchase equipment so we can display the records at events and buy audio equipment to record stories. We’ll get a portable laser printer, hard drives, and an iPad for events. We’ll host more events online and off, engage more community members, and gather and share more stories.

ABOUT US
The Kansha History Project is a community-based, volunteer-powered history initiative that is transcribing thousands of federal farm property records and making them available to families. In the last two years, 200+ volunteers have transcribed 7,000 records. More than 2,200 people have attended community events and over 95% have said that they would recommend the events. We have also returned more than 500 farm records to families. Our goal is to transcribe 20,000 records by 2030! Please be a part of this journey!
